The Way We Live

Every new project brings new decisions: material, content, whim-vs-body. This latest project came from three things. 1) Having worked in only paper for years, I missed painting, and being something of a masochist, I decided oil paint was too easy. I've switched to watercolors. 2) The last chapter of my paper cut-out series focused on architecture, my secret passion. 3) Having traveled to seven countries in two years, I've fallen in love with all the different ways we live. It started with scenic sea-scapes out of a sense of nostalgia, and then it's opened to urban areas in lands I'll never see, places I only read about in the news, places I wished didn't have to exist.

These detailed, small watercolors have afforded me a space to explore and to meditate. We are all in this together.
